Psalm 76

God Is Known in Zion

1God is known in Judah;
God’s name is great in Israel. 2The shelter of God is in Salem,
and the dwelling place in Zion. 3There God broke the flaming arrows,
the shield, the sword, and the weapons of war.
Selah. 4You are radiant, majestic,
from the mountains of prey. 5The stouthearted were plundered;
they sank into their sleep.
None of the warriors
could find their hands. 6At your rebuke, O God of Jacob,
both chariot and horse lay stunned.

The God Who Judges and Saves

7You—you are to be feared.
Who can stand before you
when your anger rises? 8From the heavens you caused judgment to be heard;
the earth feared and was still 9when God rose up for judgment,
to save all the humble of the earth.
Selah. 10Surely human wrath will praise you;
the remnant of wrath you bind around you. 11Make vows to the LORD your God and fulfill them;
let all who are around God
bring gifts to the One who is to be feared. 12God cuts off the spirit of princes
and is fearsome to the kings of the earth.
