Psalm 59

Deliver me from my enemies, my God;
protect me from those who rise against me.
Deliver me from workers of wickedness,
and save me from men of blood.
For, behold, they lie in wait for my soul;
the mighty gather against me,
not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O LORD.
Without fault they run and prepare themselves.
Rouse yourself to help me, and see!

You, LORD God of Hosts,
God of Israel, arise to punish all the nations.
Do not be merciful to all treacherous workers of evil. Selah.
They return at evening;
they growl like a dog, and go around the city.
Behold, they spew with their mouths;
swords are on their lips, for who hears?
But you, LORD, laugh at them;
you mock all the nations.
O, my strength, I will wait for you;
for God is my fortress.
My God of steadfast love will come to meet me;
God will let me look upon my enemies.
Do not kill them, lest my people forget;
make them wander by your power and bring them down, O Lord, our shield.
By the sin of their mouth, and the words of their lips,
let them be caught in their pride,
for the curses and lies they utter.
Consume them in wrath;
consume them till they are no more.
Then it will be known that God rules over Jacob
to the ends of the earth. Selah.
At evening let them return;
let them howl like a dog, and go around the city.
They wander for food;
if they are not satisfied, they remain all night.
But I will sing of your strength;
in the morning I will sing of your steadfast love.
For you have been my fortress,
and a refuge in the day of my distress.

O my strength, I will sing praises to you,
for God is my fortress, the God of steadfast love.
