Leviticus 3

The Sacrifice of Well-Being from the Herd

1If a person’s offering is a sacrifice of well-being, and it is offered from the herd, whether male or female, the person shall present before the LORD an animal without defect. 2The person shall lay a hand on the head of the offering and slaughter it at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting. Aaron’s sons, the priests, shall dash the blood against all sides of the altar. 3From the sacrifice of well-being the person shall bring as an offering by fire to the LORD the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is around the entrails, 4the two kidneys with the fat on them near the loins, and the appendage of the liver, which shall be removed with the kidneys. 5Aaron’s sons shall turn these into smoke on the altar, on top of the burnt offering that is on the wood over the fire. It is an offering by fire, a pleasing aroma to the LORD.

From the Flock

6If the offering to the LORD as a sacrifice of well-being is from the flock, whether male or female, the person shall present an animal without defect. 7If a lamb is brought as the offering, it shall be presented before the LORD. 8The person shall lay a hand on the head of the offering and slaughter it before the Tent of Meeting, and Aaron’s sons shall dash its blood against all sides of the altar. 9From the sacrifice of well-being the person shall bring as an offering by fire to the LORD its fat: the entire fat tail, removed close to the backbone, the fat that covers the entrails, and all the fat around the entrails, 10the two kidneys with the fat on them near the loins, and the appendage of the liver, removed with the kidneys. 11The priest shall turn these into smoke on the altar as food, an offering by fire to the LORD.

From the Goats

12If the offering is a goat, the person shall present it before the LORD. 13The person shall lay a hand on its head and slaughter it before the Tent of Meeting, and the sons of Aaron shall dash its blood against all sides of the altar. 14From it the person shall bring as an offering by fire to the LORD the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat around the entrails, 15the two kidneys with the fat on them near the loins, and the appendage of the liver, removed with the kidneys. 16The priest shall turn them into smoke on the altar as food, an offering by fire for a pleasing aroma. All the fat belongs to the LORD. 17This shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations, in all your dwellings: you shall eat neither fat nor blood.”
