Job 26

How You Have Helped the Powerless!

Then Job answered and said: “How you have helped one without power!
How you have saved an arm without strength!
How you have counseled one without wisdom
and made sound wisdom abundantly known!
To whom have you declared words,
and whose breath came out from you?

Sheol Is Naked Before God

The shades tremble
beneath the waters and their inhabitants.
Sheol is naked before him,
and Abaddon has no covering.
He stretches out the north over emptiness;
he hangs the earth upon nothing.
He binds up waters in his clouds,
and the cloud does not burst beneath them.
He covers the face of his throne,
spreading his cloud over it.

By His Power He Stilled the Sea

He inscribed a circle upon the face of the waters
at the boundary between light and darkness.
The pillars of heaven tremble
and are astonished at his rebuke.
By his power he stilled the sea,
and by his understanding he shattered Rahab.
By his breath the heavens became fair;
his hand pierced the fleeing serpent.
Look, these are only the edges of his ways,
and what a whisper of a word we hear of him!
But the thunder of his power—who can understand?”
