Ezekiel 38

The word of the LORD came to me, saying:

“Mortal, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him.

Say: ‘Thus says the LORD GOD: I am against you, Gog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal.

I will turn you about and put hooks in your jaws, and I will bring you out with all your army—horses and riders, all of them clothed in full armor, a great assembly with shield and buckler, all of them grasping swords.

Persia, Cush, and Put are with them, all of them with shield and helmet;

Gomer with all its troops; the house of Togarmah from the farthest parts of the north, with all its troops—many peoples are with you.

Be ready; prepare yourself, you and all your assembly gathered around you, and be a guard for them.

After many days you will be summoned. In the latter years you will come into a land restored from the sword, whose people have been gathered from many peoples upon the mountains of Israel, which had continually been a waste. It has been brought out from the peoples, and all of them live securely.

You will rise like a storm; you will come like a cloud to cover the land—you and all your troops, and many peoples with you.

“Thus says the LORD GOD: On that day, thoughts will arise in your heart, and you will devise an evil plan.

You will say, ‘I will go up against a land of unwalled villages. I will come against those at rest, living securely—all of them living without walls, and having neither bars nor gates—

to seize plunder and take spoil, to turn your hand against inhabited ruins and against a people gathered from the nations, who have acquired livestock and possessions, who live at the center of the earth.’

Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish, with all its young lions, will say to you, ‘Have you come to seize plunder? Have you assembled your company to take spoil, to carry away silver and gold, to take livestock and possessions, to seize great plunder?’

“Therefore prophesy, mortal, and say to Gog: Thus says the LORD GOD: On that day, when my people Israel are living securely, will you not know it?

You will come from your place, from the farthest parts of the north—you and many peoples with you, all of them riding horses, a great assembly and a mighty army.

You will rise against my people Israel like a cloud, to cover the land. In the latter days it will happen: I will bring you against my land, so that the nations may know me when I show myself holy through you before their eyes, Gog.

“Thus says the LORD GOD: Are you the one of whom I spoke in former days through my servants, the prophets of Israel, who prophesied in those days for years that I would bring you against them?

On that day, when Gog comes against the land of Israel, declares the LORD GOD, my wrath will rise in my anger.

For in my jealousy, in the fire of my fury, I have spoken: Surely on that day there will be a great shaking upon the land of Israel.

The fish of the sea, the birds of the heavens, the wild animals of the field, every creeping thing that creeps upon the ground, and every human being upon the face of the ground will tremble before me. The mountains will be thrown down, the steep places will fall, and every wall will fall to the ground.

I will summon a sword against him upon all my mountains, declares the LORD GOD. Every one’s sword will be against their brother.

I will enter into judgment with him through pestilence and bloodshed. Torrential rain, hailstones, fire, and sulfur I will rain down upon him, upon his troops, and upon the many peoples with him.

I will show myself great and holy, and make myself known in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the LORD.’
