Ezekiel 39
As for you, human one, prophesy against Gog and say: Thus says the LORD GOD: Look, I am against you, Gog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal. I will turn you around and lead you on; I will bring you up from the far reaches of the north and bring you against the mountains of Israel. I will strike your bow from your left hand, and make your arrows fall from your right hand. On the mountains of Israel you will fall—you and all your companies and the peoples who are with you. I will give you as food to birds of prey of every kind and to the wild animals of the field. You will fall on the open field, for I have spoken, declares the LORD GOD.
I will send fire against Magog and against those who live securely in the coastlands; and they will know that I am the LORD. I will make my holy name known among my people Israel, and I will not let my holy name be profaned anymore. Then the nations will know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel. Look, it is coming, and it will happen, declares the LORD GOD. This is the day of which I have spoken.
Then those who live in the cities of Israel will go out, and they will make fires and burn the weapons—small shields and large shields, bows and arrows, hand clubs and spears. They will make fires with them for seven years. They will not carry wood from the field or cut it from the forests, for they will make fires with the weapons. They will plunder those who plundered them and loot those who looted them, declares the LORD GOD.
On that day I will give Gog a place there for a grave in Israel: the valley of those who pass by, east of the sea. It will block those who pass by. There they will bury Gog and all his multitude, and they will call it the Valley of Hamon-gog. The house of Israel will bury them for seven months, in order to cleanse the land. All the people of the land will bury them, and it will bring them renown on the day that I am glorified, declares the LORD GOD.
They will set apart people continually to pass through the land and bury those still lying on the surface of the land, in order to cleanse it. At the end of seven months they will search. As those who pass through the land go through it, when one sees a human bone, that person will set up a marker beside it, until the buriers have buried it in the Valley of Hamon-gog. And the name of a city will also be Hamonah. Thus they will cleanse the land.
As for you, human one, thus says the LORD GOD: Say to birds of every kind and to all the wild animals of the field: Gather yourselves and come; assemble yourselves from all around for my sacrifice that I am sacrificing for you, a great sacrifice on the mountains of Israel. You will eat flesh and drink blood. You will eat the flesh of warriors and drink the blood of the leaders of the earth—rams, lambs, male goats, and bulls, all of them fattened animals of Bashan. You will eat fat until you are full and drink blood until you are drunk from my sacrifice that I have sacrificed for you. At my table you will be filled with horse and chariot, warrior and every soldier, declares the LORD GOD.
I will set my glory among the nations, and all the nations will see my judgment that I have carried out and my hand that I have laid on them. From that day onward, the house of Israel will know that I am the LORD their God. And the nations will know that the house of Israel went into exile because of their iniquity, because they acted faithlessly against me. So I hid my face from them and gave them into the hand of their foes, and all of them fell by the sword. I dealt with them according to their uncleanness and their transgressions, and I hid my face from them.
Therefore, thus says the LORD GOD: Now I will restore the fortunes of Jacob, and I will have compassion on the whole house of Israel; and I will be jealous for my holy name. They will bear their shame and all their faithlessness by which they acted faithlessly against me, when they live securely on their land with no one to make them afraid. When I bring them back from the peoples and gather them from the lands of their enemies, I will show myself holy through them in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the LORD their God, when I sent them into exile among the nations and then gathered them onto their land; I will leave none of them there any longer. I will no longer hide my face from them, because I have poured out my spirit on the house of Israel, declares the LORD GOD.
