1 Chronicles 25
David and the commanders of the army set apart for the service the sons of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun, who prophesied with lyres, harps, and cymbals. The number of the skilled men for their service was:
Of the sons of Asaph: Zakkur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asarelah. The sons of Asaph were under the direction of Asaph, who prophesied under the direction of the king.
Of Jeduthun: the sons of Jeduthun—Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah—six, under the direction of their father Jeduthun with the lyre, prophesying in giving thanks and praise to the LORD.
Of Heman: the sons of Heman—Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shubael, Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, Romamti-ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth. All these were sons of Heman, the king’s seer in the words of God, to raise up his horn. God gave Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.
All these were under the direction of their father for song in the house of the LORD, with cymbals, harps, and lyres, for the service of the house of God, under the direction of the king, Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman.
Their number, together with their kindred who were trained in song for the LORD, everyone who were skilled, was two hundred eighty-eight.
They cast lots for their duties, the small as well as the great, the skilled together with the student.
The first lot came out for Asaph, for Joseph; Gedaliah was second, he and his sons and kindred, twelve. The third was Zakkur, his sons and kindred, twelve. The fourth was for Izri, his sons and kindred, twelve. The fifth was Nethaniah, his sons and kindred, twelve. The sixth was Bukkiah, his sons and kindred, twelve. The seventh was Jesharelah, his sons and kindred, twelve. The eighth was Jeshaiah, his sons and kindred, twelve. The ninth was Mattaniah, his sons and kindred, twelve. The tenth was Shimei, his sons and kindred, twelve. The eleventh was Azarel, his sons and kindred, twelve. The twelfth was Hashabiah, his sons and kindred, twelve. The thirteenth was Shubael, his sons and kindred, twelve. The fourteenth was Mattithiah, his sons and kindred, twelve. The fifteenth was Jerimoth, his sons and kindred, twelve. The sixteenth was Hananiah, his sons and kindred, twelve. The seventeenth was Joshbekashah, his sons and kindred, twelve. The eighteenth was Hanani, his sons and kindred, twelve. The nineteenth was Mallothi, his sons and kindred, twelve. The twentieth was Eliathah, his sons and kindred, twelve. The twenty-first was Hothir, his sons and kindred, twelve. The twenty-second was Giddalti, his sons and kindred, twelve. The twenty-third was Mahazioth, his sons and kindred, twelve. The twenty-fourth was Romamti-ezer, his sons and kindred, twelve.
