1 Chronicles 26
For the divisions of the gatekeepers: of the Korahites, Meshelemiah son of Kore, from the sons of Asaph.
Meshelemiah had sons: Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth,
Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, and Eliehoenai the seventh.
Obed-edom had sons: Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, Sakhar the fourth, and Nethanel the fifth,
Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, and Peullethai the eighth; for God had blessed him.
To his son Shemaiah were born sons who ruled their ancestral house, for they were mighty warriors.
The sons of Shemaiah: Othni, Rephael, Obed, and Elzabad; and his brothers, Elihu and Semakiah, were capable men.
All these were from the sons of Obed-edom: they, their sons, and their brothers, capable men with strength for the service—sixty-two belonging to Obed-edom.
Meshelemiah had sons and brothers, capable men: eighteen.
Hosah, from the sons of Merari, had sons: Shimri was the chief, though he was not the firstborn; his father made him chief.
Hilkiah was second, Tabaliah third, and Zechariah fourth. All the sons and brothers of Hosah were thirteen.
These divisions of the gatekeepers, the leading men, had duties alongside their brothers in serving in the house of the LORD.
They cast lots, small and great alike, according to their ancestral houses, for gate after gate.
The lot for the east fell to Shelemiah. Then lots were cast for his son Zechariah, a wise counselor, and his lot came out for the north.
For Obed-edom, the south; and for his sons, the storehouse building.
For Shuppim and Hosah, the west, with Shalleketh Gate on the ascending roadway: guard post alongside guard post.
On the east were six Levites; on the north, four each day; on the south, four each day; and at the storehouses, two by two.
At the Parbar on the west, there were four at the roadway and two at the Parbar.
These were the divisions of the gatekeepers among the sons of Korah and the sons of Merari.
As for the Levites, Ahijah was over the treasuries of the house of God and over the treasuries of the holy things.
The sons of Ladan, the sons of the Gershonite Ladan: the heads of the ancestral houses of Ladan the Gershonite were Jehieli.
The sons of Jehieli, Zetham and Joel his brother, were over the treasuries of the house of the LORD.
For the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites, and the Uzzielites:
Shebuel son of Gershom, son of Moses, was chief over the treasuries.
His relatives through Eliezer were: Rehabeiah his son, Isaiah his son, Joram his son, Zichri his son, and Shelomoth his son.
This Shelomoth and his brothers were over all the treasuries of the holy things that King David, the heads of the ancestral houses, the commanders of thousands and hundreds, and the commanders of the army had dedicated.
From the wars and from the spoil they had dedicated things to strengthen the house of the LORD.
Everything that Samuel the seer, Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner, and Joab son of Zeruiah had dedicated—everything dedicated—was under the care of Shelomith and his brothers.
Of the Izharites, Kenaniah and his sons were assigned to the outside work over Israel, as officials and judges.
Of the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his brothers, one thousand seven hundred capable men, were assigned to the oversight of Israel west of the Jordan, for every work of the LORD and for the service of the king.
Of the Hebronites, Jerijah was chief among the Hebronites according to his generations and ancestral houses. In the fortieth year of David’s reign, they were sought out, and mighty warriors were found among them at Jazer of Gilead.
His brothers were capable men, two thousand seven hundred heads of ancestral houses. King David appointed them over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, for every matter of God and every matter of the king.
