Psalm 36
An utterance of transgression to the wicked is within my heart:
there is no fear of God before his eyes.
For in his own eyes he flatters himself,
too much to find his guilt and hate it.
The words of his mouth are trouble and deceit;
he has ceased to act wisely, to do good.
He plans trouble on his bed;
he sets himself on a way that is not good;
evil he does not reject.
LORD, your steadfast love is in the heavens,
your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
Your righteousness is like the mountains of God;
your judgments are a great deep.
Human and beast you save, LORD.
How precious is your steadfast love, O God!
The children of humankind take refuge
in the shadow of your wings.
They are filled from the abundance of your house,
and you give them drink from the river of your delights.
For with you is the fountain of life;
in your light we see light.
Draw out your steadfast love to those who know you,
and your righteousness to the upright in heart.
Do not let the foot of pride come against me;
do not let the hand of the wicked drive me away.
There the workers of trouble have fallen;
they are thrust down and cannot rise.
