Luke 19

Jesus and Zacchaeus

1And entering, he was passing through Jericho. 2And behold, a man named Zacchaeus, and he was a chief tax collector, and he was rich. 3And he was seeking to see who Jesus was, and he was not able because of the crowd, because he was small in stature. 4And running ahead, he climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, because he was about to pass that way.

5And when he came to the place, looking up, Jesus said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for today it is necessary for me to stay at your house.” 6And hurrying, he came down and received him with joy. 7And seeing it, they were all grumbling, saying, “He has gone in to lodge with a man who is a sinner.”

8But Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, half of my possessions I give to the poor, and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I restore fourfold.” 9And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham. 10For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
