Oil for the Lamp

1The LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 2“Command the Israelites to bring you pure oil of beaten olives for the light, to keep a lamp burning continually. 3Outside the curtain of the testimony in the Tent of Meeting, Aaron shall arrange it from evening until morning before the LORD continually. It is a perpetual statute throughout your generations. 4He shall arrange the lamps on the pure lampstand before the LORD continually.

The Bread before the LORD

5You shall take fine flour and bake twelve cakes from it; each cake shall be made from two-tenths of an ephah. 6You shall arrange them in two rows, six in a row, on the pure table before the LORD. 7You shall put pure frankincense on each row, and it shall be with the bread as a memorial portion, an offering by fire to the LORD. 8Every Sabbath day Aaron shall arrange it before the LORD continually on behalf of the Israelites, as a perpetual covenant. 9It shall belong to Aaron and his sons, and they shall eat it in a holy place, for it is most holy to him from the LORD’s offerings by fire, a perpetual statute.

The Man Who Blasphemed the Name

10The son of an Israelite woman, whose father was an Egyptian man, went out among the Israelites. The son of the Israelite woman and an Israelite man fought in the camp. 11The Israelite woman’s son blasphemed the Name and cursed, and they brought him to Moses. His mother’s name was Shelomith daughter of Dibri, from the tribe of Dan. 12They placed him in custody until the LORD’s decision should be made clear to them.

13The LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 14“Bring the one who cursed outside the camp. All who heard him shall lay their hands on his head, and the whole congregation shall stone him. 15Speak to the Israelites, saying: Anyone who curses his God shall bear his sin. 16Whoever blasphemes the name of the LORD shall surely be put to death; the whole congregation shall surely stone that person. The resident alien as well as the native-born shall be put to death when blaspheming the Name.

Equal Justice for Native and Resident Alien

17Whoever strikes down a human life shall surely be put to death. 18Whoever strikes down an animal shall make restitution for it, life for life. 19If anyone causes an injury to a neighbor, as that person has done, so it shall be done to that person: 20fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth. As the person has caused injury to another, so shall it be given to that person. 21Whoever strikes down an animal shall make restitution for it, but whoever strikes down a human being shall be put to death. 22You shall have one ordinance for the resident alien and for the native-born, for I am the LORD your God.”

23Moses spoke to the Israelites, and they brought the one who had cursed outside the camp and stoned him with stones. The Israelites did as the LORD commanded Moses.
