Joshua 16
The Allotment of Joseph
The lot for the children of Joseph went out from the Jordan at Jericho, east of the waters of Jericho, into the wilderness, going up from Jericho through the hill country to Bethel. It went out from Bethel to Luz and crossed to the border of the Archites at Ataroth. Then it went down westward to the border of the Japhletites as far as the border of Lower Beth-Horon, then to Gezer, and it ended at the sea. So the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, received their inheritance.
The Territory of Ephraim
The territory of the children of Ephraim according to their clans was this: the border of their inheritance toward the east was Ataroth-Addar as far as Upper Beth-Horon. The border went out toward the sea. Michmethath was on the north. The border turned eastward to Taanath-Shiloh and passed beyond it eastward to Janoah. It went down from Janoah to Ataroth and Naarah, reached Jericho, and went out at the Jordan. From Tappuah the border went westward to the Wadi Kanah and ended at the sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Ephraim according to their clans, together with the cities set apart for the children of Ephraim within the inheritance of the children of Manasseh, all the cities with their villages. But they did not drive out the Canaanites who lived in Gezer. So the Canaanites have lived in the midst of Ephraim to this day and became forced labor.
