Jeremiah 45

A word to Baruch

1This is the word Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch son of Neriah when Baruch wrote these words on a scroll as Jeremiah dictated them, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah: 2“This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says to you, Baruch: 3‘You said, “Woe to me!
The LORD has added grief to my pain.
I am worn out with groaning
and can find no rest.”’ 4“This is what you are to tell him: ‘The LORD says:
What I built, I am tearing down;
what I planted, I am uprooting—
and that means the whole land. 5And you seek great things for yourself?
Do not seek them.
I am bringing disaster on all flesh, declares the LORD.
But wherever you go, I will give you your life as plunder.’”
