Hosea 6
Come, Let Us Return to the LORD
Come, let us return to the LORD,
for he has torn us,
but he will heal us;
he has struck us,
but he will bind us up.
After two days he will revive us;
on the third day he will raise us up,
and we will live before him.
Let us know;
let us press on to know the LORD.
His going forth is as certain as dawn;
he will come to us like rain,
like the spring rain
that waters the earth.
Your Steadfast Love Is Like Morning Mist
What shall I do with you, Ephraim?
What shall I do with you, Judah?
Your steadfast love is like a morning cloud,
like dew that goes away early.
Therefore I cut them down by the prophets;
I killed them by the words of my mouth,
and my judgment goes out like light.
For I desire steadfast love
and not sacrifice,
and knowledge of God
rather than burnt offerings.
They Broke the Covenant
But like Adam they transgressed the covenant;
there they acted treacherously against me.
Gilead is a city of evildoers,
tracked with blood.
As bands of robbers wait for a man,
so the company of priests murders
on the road to Shechem;
surely they commit outrage.
In the house of Israel
I have seen a horrifying thing:
there Ephraim prostitutes himself;
Israel is defiled.
For you also, Judah,
a harvest is appointed
when I restore the fortunes of my people.
