Ezekiel 42
Then he brought me out to the outer court by way of the north, and brought me to the chamber that was opposite the separate area and opposite the building, toward the north. Its length along the front was one hundred cubits, with an entrance on the north; and its width was fifty cubits. Opposite the twenty cubits belonging to the inner court, and opposite the pavement belonging to the outer court, gallery faced gallery on the third level. In front of the chambers was a passage, ten cubits wide, leading inward; a path one cubit wide; and their entrances faced north.
The upper chambers were shortened, because the galleries took away from them more than from the lower and middle levels of the building. For they were three stories, and they had no pillars like the pillars of the courts; therefore they were set back from the ground, more than the lower and middle levels.
There was a wall outside, alongside the chambers, toward the outer court, facing the chambers. Its length was fifty cubits. For the length of the chambers toward the outer court was fifty cubits, but there before the temple it was one hundred cubits. Below these chambers was an entrance from the east, for one entering them from the outer court.
In the width of the court wall, toward the east, opposite the separate area and opposite the building, were chambers. A path lay before them, like the appearance of the chambers that faced north: their length was the same as their width, and so were all their exits, their arrangements, and their entrances. As were the entrances of the chambers that faced south, there was an entrance at the head of the path—the path before the wall, the wall facing east—for those entering them.
Then he said to me, “The north chambers and the south chambers, which face the separate area, are holy chambers. There the priests who draw near to the LORD shall eat the most holy offerings. There they shall place the most holy offerings, the grain offering, the sin offering, and the guilt offering, because the place is holy. “When the priests enter, they shall not go out from the holy place into the outer court. There they shall leave the garments in which they minister, for they are holy; they shall clothe themselves and put on other garments, and then they may approach what belongs to the people.”
When he had finished measuring the inner temple, he brought me out by way of the gate that faced east, and he measured it all around.
He measured the east side with the measuring reed: five cubits, one hundred reeds, by the measuring reed, all around. He measured the north side: five hundred reeds by the measuring reed, all around. He measured the south side: five hundred reeds by the measuring reed. He turned to the west side and measured: five hundred reeds by the measuring reed. He measured it on its four sides. It had a wall all around, five hundred long and five hundred wide, to separate between what is holy and what is common.
