Zechariah 4

Fifth Vision: The Lampstand and Olive Trees

Then the angel who was speaking with me returned and woke me, like someone awakened from sleep. And he said to me, “What do you see?”

I said, “I see, and look—a lampstand all of gold, with a bowl on its top and seven lamps on it, with seven channels for each of the lamps that are on its top.
And there are two olive trees beside it, one on the right of the bowl and one on its left.” Then I answered and said to the angel who was speaking with me, “What are these, my lord?” The angel who was speaking with me answered and said to me, “Do you not know what these are?”

And I said, “No, my lord.”

Not by Might, but by My Spirit

Then he answered and said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel:

Not by might,
and not by power,
but by my Spirit,
says the LORD of Hosts.
Who are you, O great mountain?
Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain.
And he shall bring out the top stone
with shouts of,
‘Grace, grace to it!’”

Then the word of the LORD came to me: “The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house, and his hands shall finish it. Then you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent me to you. For who has despised the day of small things? They will rejoice when they see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel.

These seven are the eyes of the LORD, which range through the whole earth.”

The Two Anointed Ones

Then I answered and said to him, “What are these two olive trees on the right and on the left of the lampstand?” And a second time I answered and said to him, “What are the two branches of the olive trees beside the two golden pipes that pour out the golden oil?” And he said to me, “Do you not know what these are?”

I said, “No, my lord.”
Then he said, “These are the two anointed ones who stand beside the Lord of all the earth.”
