Zechariah 2

Third Vision: The Measuring Line

Then I lifted my eyes and looked, and there was a man with a measuring line in his hand. And I said, “Where are you going?”

He said to me, “To measure Jerusalem, to see what its width is and what its length is.”
Then the angel who was speaking with me went out, and another angel came out to meet him. And he said to him, “Run, speak to that young man, saying:

Jerusalem shall be inhabited
like villages without walls
because of the multitude of people
and livestock within it.
And I myself will be for it,
says the LORD,
a wall of fire all around,
and I will be glory
in its midst.”

Zion Called Home

“Ho! Ho! Flee from the land of the north, says the LORD, for I have scattered you like the four winds of heaven, says the LORD. Ho, Zion! Escape, you who dwell with daughter Babylon. For thus says the LORD of Hosts: After glory, he sent me against the nations that plundered you, for whoever touches you touches the pupil of his eye. For look, I am about to wave my hand over them, and they shall become plunder for those who served them. Then you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent me.

The LORD Will Dwell in Zion

Sing and rejoice, daughter Zion,
for look, I am coming,
and I will dwell in your midst,
says the LORD.
Many nations shall join themselves
to the LORD on that day,
and they shall become my people.
And I will dwell in your midst,
and you shall know
that the LORD of Hosts has sent me to you.
The LORD will inherit Judah
as a portion in the holy land
and will again choose Jerusalem.
Be silent, all flesh, before the LORD,
for the LORD has roused himself
from his holy dwelling.
