Zechariah 13

A Fountain Opened

On that day a fountain will be opened for the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, for sin and for impurity.

Idols and False Prophets Removed

And on that day, says the LORD of Hosts, I will cut off the names of the idols from the land, and they will no longer be remembered. I will also remove the prophets and the spirit of impurity from the land. And if someone still prophesies, their father and mother who gave them birth will say to them, “You will not live, because you have spoken falsehood in the name of the LORD.” And their father and mother who gave them birth will pierce them when they prophesy.

On that day every prophet will be ashamed of their vision when they prophesy. They will not put on a hairy garment in order to deceive. But each will say, “I am no prophet. I am a worker of the soil, for a man acquired me from my youth.” And someone will say to him, “What are these wounds between your hands?”

And he will say, “These are the wounds I received in the house of people who loved me.”

Strike the Shepherd

Awake, O sword,
against my shepherd,
against the man who is my companion,
says the LORD of Hosts.

Strike the shepherd,
and the sheep will be scattered;
and I will turn my hand
against the little ones.
And in all the land,
says the LORD,
two parts in it will be cut off and perish,
but one part will remain in it.
I will bring the third part through the fire;
I will refine them as silver is refined
and test them as gold is tested.

They will call upon my name,
and I will answer them.

I will say,
“They are my people,”
and they will say,
“The LORD is my God.”
