Creation Groans in Hope

18I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory about to be revealed to us. 19For creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of God’s children. 20Creation was subjected to futility, not willingly but because of the one who subjected it, in hope 21that creation itself will also be set free from slavery to decay into the freedom of the glory of God’s children. 22We know that the whole creation has been groaning together and suffering labor pains together until now. 23And not only creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly while we wait for adoption, the redemption of our bodies. 24For we were saved in hope. But hope that is seen is not hope. Who hopes for what they see? 25But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with endurance.

The Spirit Helps Our Weakness

26In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes with groanings too deep for words. 27The one who searches hearts knows the Spirit’s mind, because the Spirit intercedes for the holy ones according to God’s will.
