Romans 16

Phoebe and the Roman House Churches

I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a deacon of the church in Cenchreae. Welcome her in the Lord in a way worthy of the holy ones, and help her in whatever matter she may need from you, because she has been a benefactor of many people, including me.

Greet Prisca and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus, who risked their own necks for my life. Not only I but all the Gentile churches give thanks for them. Greet also the church in their house. Greet my beloved Epaenetus, the firstfruits of Asia for Christ. Greet Mary, who worked very hard for you. Greet Andronicus and Junia, my relatives and fellow prisoners. They are outstanding among the apostles, and they were in Christ before me. Greet Ampliatus, my beloved in the Lord. Greet Urbanus, our fellow worker in Christ, and my beloved Stachys. Greet Apelles, who is approved in Christ. Greet those from Aristobulus’ household. Greet my relative Herodion. Greet those from Narcissus’ household who are in the Lord. Greet Tryphaena and Tryphosa, who work hard in the Lord. Greet the beloved Persis, who has worked very hard in the Lord. Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord, and his mother, who has been a mother to me as well. Greet Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermes, Patrobas, Hermas, and the brothers and sisters with them. Greet Philologus and Julia, Nereus and his sister, Olympas, and all the holy ones with them. Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the churches of Christ greet you.

Watch for Those Who Divide

I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in the way contrary to the teaching you learned. Turn away from them. For such people do not serve our Lord Christ but their own appetites, and through smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of unsuspecting people. Your obedience has become known to everyone, so I rejoice over you. But I want you to be wise about what is good and innocent about what is evil. The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.

Greetings from Paul’s Companions

Timothy, my fellow worker, greets you, as do Lucius, Jason, and Sosipater, my relatives. I, Tertius, the one who wrote down this letter, greet you in the Lord. Gaius, who is host to me and to the whole church, greets you. Erastus, the city treasurer, greets you, along with our brother Quartus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with all of you. Amen.
