Romans 14
Do Not Judge One Another
Now receive the one who is weak in faith, but not for disputes about opinions. One believes he may eat all things, but the weak eats vegetables.
Let not the one who eats despise the one who does not eat, and let not the one who does not eat judge the one who eats, for God has received him. Who are you to judge another’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls; and he will be made to stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
One judges one day above another, another judges every day alike. Let each one be fully convinced in his own mind. The one who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and the one who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and the one who does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and gives thanks to God.
For none of us lives to himself, and none dies to himself; for if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord; therefore whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s.
For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.
But you, why do you judge your brother? Or you again, why do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God.
For it is written,
“As I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow to me,
and every tongue will confess to God.”
So then each of us will give an account of himself to God.
Do Not Cause Another to Stumble
Therefore let us no longer judge one another, but rather decide this—not to put a stumbling block or obstacle before a brother.
I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself; but to the one who considers something to be unclean, to that one it is unclean.
For if because of food your brother is grieved, you are no longer walking according to love. Do not destroy with your food the one for whom Christ died.
Therefore do not let what is good for you be spoken of as evil; for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
For the one who serves Christ in this way is acceptable to God and approved by men.
So then let us pursue the things of peace and the things that build up one another.
Do not tear down the work of God for the sake of food. All things indeed are clean, but it is evil for the one who eats and causes stumbling. It is good not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything by which your brother stumbles.
The faith that you have, have it to yourself before God. Blessed is the one who does not judge himself in what he approves. But the one who doubts is condemned if he eats, because it is not from faith; and whatever is not from faith is sin.
