Psalm 144

Blessed Be the LORD, My Rock

Blessed be the LORD, my rock,
who trains my hands for battle
and my fingers for war,
my steadfast love and my fortress,
my stronghold and my deliverer,
my shield and the One in whom I take refuge,
who subdues peoples under me.
O LORD, what is a human being, that you know them,
a mortal, that you think of them?
A human being is like a breath;
one’s days are like a passing shadow.

Bow Your Heavens and Come Down

O LORD, bow your heavens and come down;
touch the mountains so that they smoke.
Flash lightning and scatter them;
send out your arrows and rout them.
Stretch out your hand from on high;
rescue me and deliver me from mighty waters,
from the hand of foreigners,
whose mouths speak falsehood
and whose right hand is a right hand of lies.

I Will Sing a New Song to You

O God, I will sing a new song to you;
on a ten-stringed harp I will make music to you,
the One who gives victory to kings,
who rescues David, the servant, from the cruel sword.
Rescue me and deliver me from the hand of foreigners,
whose mouths speak falsehood
and whose right hand is a right hand of lies.

Happy Are the People Whose God Is the LORD

May our sons in their youth
be like plants grown to full stature,
and our daughters like corner pillars,
carved for the structure of a palace.
May our storehouses be full,
providing every kind of produce.
May our sheep multiply by thousands,
by tens of thousands in our fields.
May our cattle bear without mishap,
with no breach and no going out,
and no cry of distress in our streets.
Happy are the people for whom it is so;
happy are the people whose God is the LORD.
