Psalm 135

Praise the Name of the LORD

1Praise the LORD!
Praise the name of the LORD;
give praise, servants of the LORD, 2you who stand in the house of the LORD,
in the courts of the house of our God. 3Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good;
make music to God’s name, for it is pleasant. 4For the LORD has chosen Jacob for himself,
Israel as God’s treasured possession.

The LORD Does Whatever God Pleases

5For I know that the LORD is great,
and our Lord is above all gods. 6Whatever the LORD pleases, God does,
in the heavens and on the earth,
in the seas and all the depths. 7God raises clouds from the ends of the earth,
makes lightning for the rain,
and brings out the wind from storehouses.

God Gave Their Land as a Heritage

8God struck the firstborn of Egypt,
from human being to animal. 9God sent signs and wonders into your midst, O Egypt,
against Pharaoh and all his servants. 10God struck many nations
and killed mighty kings: 11Sihon king of the Amorites,
Og king of Bashan,
and all the kingdoms of Canaan. 12God gave their land as a heritage,
a heritage to Israel, God’s people. 13O LORD, your name is forever;
O LORD, your remembrance is from generation to generation. 14For the LORD will vindicate the people
and have compassion on the servants.

The Idols of the Nations

15The idols of the nations are silver and gold,
the work of human hands. 16They have mouths but do not speak;
they have eyes but do not see. 17They have ears but do not hear;
there is no breath in their mouths. 18Those who make them become like them,
as do all who trust in them.

Bless the LORD from Zion

19House of Israel, bless the LORD!
House of Aaron, bless the LORD! 20House of Levi, bless the LORD!
You who fear the LORD, bless the LORD! 21Blessed be the LORD from Zion,
the One who dwells in Jerusalem.
Praise the LORD!
