Psalm 127

Unless the LORD Builds the House

1Unless the LORD builds the house,
those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the LORD guards the city,
the watchman keeps awake in vain. 2It is vain for you to rise early
and sit up late,
eating the bread of toil;
for God gives sleep to the beloved.

Children Are a Heritage from the LORD

3Look, children are a heritage from the LORD;
the fruit of the womb is a reward. 4Like arrows in the hand of a warrior
are the children of one’s youth. 5Happy is the one
whose quiver is filled with them.
They will not be put to shame
when they speak with enemies in the gate.
