Philippians 2

Unity and Humility

So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any sharing in the Spirit, any tenderness and compassion, make my joy complete: think in harmony, share the same love, be united in soul and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or empty pride. Instead, in humility regard others as more important than yourselves. Each of you should look beyond your own interests to the interests of others as well.

The Mind of Christ

Let this be your way of thinking together, the way of Christ Jesus:

Though he was in the form of God,
he did not regard equality with God
as something to exploit.
Instead, he emptied himself,
taking the form of a slave,
becoming like human beings.
And being found in human form,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to the point of death—
even death on a cross.

That is why God raised him to the highest place
and gave him the name
above every name,
so that at the name of Jesus
every knee should bend—
in heaven, on earth and beneath the earth—
and every tongue confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

Work Out What God Works In

So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling—not only when I am present, but much more now while I am absent. For God is at work in you—in your willing as well as your doing—for his good pleasure.
