Matthew 5
Salt and light
You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is good for nothing except to be thrown outside and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a grain basket. They put it on a lampstand, where it shines for everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before people, so they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
The Law and the Prophets
Do not think I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I came to fulfill them, not to abolish them. Truly I tell you: until heaven and earth pass away, not one smallest letter or pen stroke will pass from the Law until everything happens. So whoever sets aside even one of these least commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever practices and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.
