Jesus transformed on the mountain

1Six days later, Jesus took Peter, James, and James’s brother John with him and led them up a high mountain by themselves. 2He was transformed before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light. 3Then Moses and Elijah appeared to them, speaking with him. 4Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will make three shelters here: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” 5While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them. A voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I delight. Listen to him.” 6When the disciples heard it, they fell facedown, terrified. 7Jesus came, touched them, and said, “Get up. Do not be afraid.” 8When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus alone.

Elijah and the Son of Man

9As they came down the mountain, Jesus commanded them, “Tell no one about the vision until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.”
