Matthew 13

Treasure, pearl, and net

“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. A man found it and hid it again. In his joy he goes and sells everything he has and buys that field. “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant searching for fine pearls. When he found one pearl of great value, he went and sold everything he had and bought it. “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet thrown into the sea that gathered fish of every kind. When it was full, they pulled it ashore, sat down, and sorted the good fish into containers, throwing the worthless ones away. So it will be at the completion of the age. The angels will come out and separate the evil from among the righteous and throw them into the blazing furnace. There will be weeping and grinding of teeth.

New and old

“Have you understood all these things?” They answered him, “Yes.” He said to them, “So every scribe trained as a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out new things and old from his store.”
