Matthew 13
The sower
That same day Jesus left the house and sat beside the sea. Large crowds gathered around him, so he got into a boat and sat there while the whole crowd stood on the shore. He told them many things in parables: “Listen! A sower went out to sow. As he sowed, some seeds fell beside the path, and birds came and ate them. Others fell on rocky ground with little soil. They sprouted at once because the soil was shallow. But when the sun rose, they were scorched. Because they had no root, they withered. Others fell among thorns. The thorns grew up and choked them. Others fell on good soil and produced a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. Let anyone with ears listen.”
