Mark 12
Scribes and a Poor Widow
Jesus sat opposite the treasury and watched how the crowd put money into it. Many rich people put in large amounts. Then a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, together worth a quadrans. Jesus called his disciples over and said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than everyone else who gave to the treasury. They all gave out of their surplus, but she, out of her poverty, put in everything she had—her whole livelihood.”
