Luke 17

Temptations to Sin

And he said to his disciples, “It is impossible for stumbling blocks not to come, but woe to the one through whom they come! It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were cast into the sea than that he should cause one of these little ones to stumble.

Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. And if he sins against you seven times in the day and seven times returns to you, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him.”

Increase Our Faith

And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.” And the Lord said, “If you had faith like a grain of mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.

Unworthy Servants

But which of you, having a servant plowing or tending sheep, will say to him when he comes in from the field, ‘Come immediately and recline at table’? Will he not rather say to him, ‘Prepare something for me to eat, and gird yourself and serve me until I eat and drink, and afterward you will eat and drink’? Does he thank the servant because he did what was commanded? So you also, when you have done all that was commanded you, say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have done what we ought to have done.’”

Jesus Cleanses Ten Lepers

And it happened as he was going to Jerusalem that he was passing between Samaria and Galilee. And as he was entering a certain village, ten men who were lepers met him, who stood at a distance, and they lifted up their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.”

And seeing them, he said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And it happened as they were going, they were cleansed. And one of them, seeing that he was healed, returned, glorifying God with a loud voice, and fell on his face at his feet, giving thanks to him. And he was a Samaritan.

And answering, Jesus said, “Were not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? Was no one found returning to give glory to God except this foreigner?” And he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has saved you.”

The Coming of the Kingdom

And being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God is coming, he answered them and said, “The kingdom of God is not coming with observable signs, nor will they say, ‘Look, here!’ or ‘There!’ For behold, the kingdom of God is in your midst.”

And he said to the disciples, “Days will come when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it. And they will say to you, ‘Look there!’ or ‘Look here!’ Do not go out or follow. For as the lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man be in his day.

But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation. And just as it happened in the days of Noah, so will it be also in the days of the Son of Man: they were eating, drinking, marrying, being given in marriage, until the day Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.

Likewise, just as it happened in the days of Lot: they were eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, building; but on the day Lot went out from Sodom, it rained fire and sulfur from heaven and destroyed them all. In the same way it will be on the day the Son of Man is revealed.

On that day, the one who is on the housetop, and his goods in the house, must not go down to take them away; and likewise the one in the field must not turn back. Remember Lot’s wife. Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses it will keep it alive.

I tell you, in that night there will be two in one bed; one will be taken and the other left. There will be two grinding together; one will be taken and the other left.”

And answering, they say to him, “Where, Lord?” And he said to them, “Where the body is, there also the vultures will be gathered.”
