The Wedding at Cana
And on the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there, and Jesus also was invited, and his disciples, to the wedding. And when the wine failed, the mother of Jesus says to him, “They have no wine.”
And Jesus says to her, “What to me and to you, woman? My hour has not yet come.” His mother says to the servants, “Whatever he says to you, do.”
Now there were six stone water jars set there for the purification of the Jews, each holding two or three measures. Jesus says to them, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. And he says to them, “Draw now and carry to the master of the feast.” And they carried it.
And when the master of the feast tasted the water having become wine and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast calls the bridegroom and says to him, “Every person sets out the good wine first, and when they have drunk freely, then the inferior; you have kept the good wine until now.”
This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee and manifested his glory, and his disciples believed in him.
After this he went down to Capernaum, he and his mother and his brothers and his disciples, and they stayed there not many days.
Jesus Cleanses the Temple
And the Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. And he found in the temple those selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers sitting.
And making a whip of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned the tables, and to those selling the doves he said, “Take these things away from here; do not make my Father’s house a house of trade.”
His disciples remembered that it is written, “Zeal for your house will consume me.”
Therefore the Jews answered and said to him, “What sign do you show us, since you are doing these things?” Jesus answered and said to them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it.”
Then the Jews said, “This temple was built in forty-six years, and will you raise it in three days?” But he was speaking about the temple of his body. Therefore when he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.
Jesus Knows What Is in Man
And while he was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in his name, seeing his signs which he was doing. But Jesus himself was not entrusting himself to them, because he knew all people, and because he had no need that anyone should testify concerning man, for he himself knew what was in man.
