The Shared Word Translation · Study & Discuss
John 15
The True Vine
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me not bearing fruit he takes away, and every one bearing fruit he prunes so that it may bear more fruit.
Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. Remain in me, and I in you. Just as the branch is not able to bear fruit from itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in me.
I am the vine; you are the branches. The one remaining in me, and I in him, this one bears much fruit, because apart from me you are not able to do anything. If anyone does not remain in me, he is thrown out like a branch and dries up, and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. In this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples.
Just as the Father has loved me, I also have loved you; remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.
These things I have spoken to you so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be made full.
Love One Another
This is my commandment, that you love one another just as I have loved you.
