Job 13

I Would Speak to the Almighty

“Look, my eye has seen all this;
my ear has heard and understood it.
What you know, I also know;
I am not inferior to you.
Yet I would speak to the Almighty,
and I desire to argue my case with God.
But you smear with lies;
you are all worthless physicians.
If only you would be completely silent!
That would become your wisdom.
Hear now my argument,
and listen to the contentions of my lips.

Will You Speak Unjustly for God?

Will you speak injustice for God?
Will you speak deceitfully for him?
Will you show partiality toward him?
Will you contend for God?
Would it be good if he examined you?
Can you deceive him as one deceives a human?
He would surely correct you
if in secret you show partiality.
Would not his majesty terrify you,
and dread of him fall upon you?
Your remembered sayings are proverbs of ash;
your defenses are defenses of clay.

Though He Kill Me, I Will Hope in Him

Be silent before me,
and let me speak;
then let come upon me what may.
Why should I take my flesh in my teeth
and put my life in my hand?
Though he kill me, I will hope in him;
yet I will argue my ways before his face.
This also will be my salvation,
for no godless person can come before him.
Listen carefully to my words,
and let my declaration be in your ears.
Look now, I have arranged my case;
I know that I am in the right.
Who is there who will contend with me?
For then I would be silent and expire.

Withdraw Your Hand from Me

Only two things do not do to me;
then I will not hide from your face:
withdraw your hand far from me,
and do not let your terror frighten me.
Then call, and I will answer;
or let me speak, and you answer me.

How Many Are My Sins?

How many are my iniquities and sins?
Make me know my transgression and my sin.
Why do you hide your face
and consider me your enemy?
Will you terrify a driven leaf
and pursue dry chaff?
For you write bitter things against me
and make me inherit the iniquities of my youth.
You put my feet in the stocks
and watch all my paths;
you mark the soles of my feet.
And he wastes away like something rotten,
like a garment eaten by moths.”
