Isaiah 25

The LORD's Feast and Salvation

LORD, you are my God.
I will exalt you and praise your name,
for you have done wonders—
plans from long ago, faithfully fulfilled.
You have made a city a heap,
a fortified town a ruin.
The foreigners’ palace is a city no more;
it will never be rebuilt.
So a strong people will honor you;
the city of ruthless nations will fear you.
You have been a refuge for the poor,
a refuge for the needy in distress,
a shelter from the storm, a shade from the heat.
For the breath of the ruthless is like a storm against a wall,

like heat in a dry place.
You subdue the foreigners’ uproar;
as heat is subdued by a cloud’s shade,
the song of the ruthless is brought low.
On this mountain the LORD of hosts will prepare
a feast for all peoples:
rich food, aged wine,
rich food full of marrow, aged wine well strained.
On this mountain he will swallow up
the covering spread over all peoples,
the veil laid over all nations.
He will swallow up death forever.
The Lord GOD will wipe tears from every face
and remove his people’s disgrace from all the earth,
for the LORD has spoken.

On that day people will say,
“Look, this is our God! We waited for him, and he saved us.
This is the LORD; we waited for him.
Let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation!”
The LORD’s hand will rest on this mountain,
but Moab will be trampled where it stands,
as straw is trampled in a dung pit.
Moab will spread its hands in it
as a swimmer spreads his hands to swim.
But he will bring down Moab’s pride,
despite the skill of its hands.
Your high, fortified walls
he has brought down, laid low,
struck to the ground, to the dust.
