Shared Word Translation

Hosea 14

Return, Israel, to the LORD

Return, Israel,
to the LORD your God,
for you have stumbled
because of your guilt.
Take words with you
and return to the LORD.
Say to him:

“Take away all guilt;
receive what is good,
and we will repay
the fruit of our lips.
Assyria will not save us;
we will not ride on horses.
We will no longer say, ‘Our God,’
to the work of our hands,
for in you
the orphan finds compassion.”

I Will Heal Their Turning Away

“I will heal their turning away;
I will love them freely,
for my anger
has turned away from him.
I will be like dew to Israel;
he will blossom like the lily
and send out his roots
like Lebanon.
His shoots will spread;
his beauty will be like the olive tree,
and his fragrance
like Lebanon.
Those who dwell in his shadow
will return;
they will revive like grain
and blossom like the vine.
His remembrance will be
like the wine of Lebanon.

What More Have I to Do with Idols?

Ephraim will say,
“What more have I to do with idols?”
I myself answer him
and watch over him.
I am like a flourishing cypress;
from me
your fruit is found.

Who Is Wise?

Who is wise
and understands these things?
Who is discerning
and knows them?

For the ways of the LORD are right;
the righteous walk in them,
but transgressors
stumble in them.
