Genesis 50
Joseph reassures his brothers
Now that their father was dead, Joseph’s brothers said, “What if Joseph bears a grudge against us and pays us back for all the harm we did him?”
So they sent word to Joseph: “Before your father died, he gave this instruction: ‘Tell Joseph, “Please forgive your brothers’ offense and sin, for they did you harm.”’ Now please forgive the offense of the servants of your father’s God.” Joseph wept when their message reached him.
His brothers also came, fell down before him, and said, “Here we are, your slaves.”
But Joseph told them, “Do not be afraid. Am I in God’s place? You intended harm against me; God intended it for good, to bring about what is happening today: keeping many people alive. So do not be afraid. I myself will provide for you and your little ones.” He comforted them and spoke to their hearts.
