Genesis 10
The Nations from Noah’s Sons
This is the account of the families of Noah's sons—Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Sons were born to them after the flood.
Japheth’s Descendants
Japheth's sons were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras. Gomer's sons were Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah. Javan's sons were Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.
From these came the coastland peoples, spreading into their lands, each with its own language, organized by clans and nations.
Ham’s Descendants
Ham's sons were Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan.
Cush's sons were Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. Raamah's sons were Sheba and Dedan.
Cush became the father of Nimrod, who began to be a mighty figure on the earth. He was a mighty hunter before the LORD. That is why people say, “Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the LORD.”
His kingdom began with Babel, Erech, Akkad, and Calneh in the land of Shinar. From that land he went into Assyria and built Nineveh, Rehoboth-ir, and Calah, and Resen between Nineveh and Calah. That is the great city.
Mizraim became the ancestor of the Ludim, Anamim, Lehabim, and Naphtuhim, Pathrusim, Casluhim—from whom the Philistines came—and Caphtorim.
Canaan became the father of Sidon, his firstborn, and of Heth, and the ancestor of the Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites, Hivites, Arkites, Sinites, Arvadites, Zemarites, and Hamathites. Later, the Canaanite clans spread out.
Canaanite territory extended from Sidon toward Gerar as far as Gaza, and toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim as far as Lasha.
These were Ham's descendants, organized by clans and languages, in their lands and nations.
Shem’s Descendants
Shem also had children. He was the ancestor of all Eber's descendants and the older brother of Japheth.
Shem's sons were Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram. Aram's sons were Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash.
Arpachshad became the father of Shelah, and Shelah became the father of Eber.
Eber had two sons. One was named Peleg, because in his days the earth was divided. His brother was named Joktan.
Joktan became the father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, Obal, Abimael, Sheba, Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All these were Joktan's sons.
Their settlements stretched from Mesha toward Sephar, the hill country of the east.
These were Shem's descendants, organized by clans and languages, in their lands and nations.
The Nations Spread
These were the clans of Noah's sons, arranged by their lines of descent and their nations. From these, the nations spread across the earth after the flood.
