Sent to a rebellious household
He said to me, “Son of man, stand on your feet, and I will speak with you.” As he spoke to me, a spirit entered me and set me on my feet. I heard him speaking to me. He said, “Son of man, I am sending you to the Israelites, to rebellious nations that have rebelled against me. They and their ancestors have defied me to this very day. Their children have hard faces and stubborn hearts. I am sending you to them, and you must tell them, ‘This is what the Lord GOD says.’ Whether they listen or refuse—for they are a rebellious household—they will know that a prophet has been among them. And you, son of man, do not fear them or their words. Though briars and thorns surround you and you live among scorpions, do not fear their words or be dismayed by their faces. They are a rebellious household. Speak my words to them whether they listen or refuse, for they are rebellious.

But you, son of man, listen to what I am telling you. Do not be rebellious like that rebellious household. Open your mouth and eat what I give you.” I looked and saw a hand stretched out toward me, holding a scroll. He unrolled it before me. Writing covered its front and back: laments, mourning, and woe.
