Ezekiel 15

The wood of the vine

1The word of the LORD came to me: 2“Son of man, how is the wood of a vine better than any other wood, a vine branch among the trees of the forest? 3Can its wood be used to make anything? Can people even make a peg from it to hang a vessel on? 4It is given to the fire for fuel. When fire has consumed both ends and charred the middle, is it useful for anything? 5Even when it was whole, nothing could be made from it. How much less can it be used when fire has consumed and charred it! 6“Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: Like the vine wood among the forest trees that I give to the fire for fuel, so I will give up the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 7I will set my face against them. They have come out of the fire, but fire will consume them. When I set my face against them, you will know that I am the LORD. 8I will make the land desolate because they have acted unfaithfully, declares the Lord GOD.”
