Exodus 35

Sabbath before the Work

1Moses gathered all the congregation of the children of Israel and said to them, “These are the things that the LORD has commanded you to do: 2Six days work shall be done, but on the seventh day you shall have a holy day, a Sabbath of complete rest to the LORD. Whoever does work on it shall be put to death. 3You shall not kindle a fire in any of your dwellings on the Sabbath day.”

Bring an Offering to the LORD

4Moses spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying, “This is the thing that the LORD commanded, saying: 5Take from among yourselves an offering for the LORD. Everyone whose heart is willing shall bring it as the LORD’s offering: gold, silver, and bronze; 6blue, purple, and scarlet yarn; fine linen and goats’ hair; 7ram skins dyed red, fine leather, and acacia wood; 8oil for the light, spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense; 9onyx stones and stones for setting in the ephod and in the breastpiece.

Let the Wise of Heart Come and Make

10“Let every wise-hearted person among you come and make all that the LORD has commanded: 11the dwelling, its tent and covering, its clasps, frames, crossbars, pillars, and bases; 12the ark and its poles, the cover, and the screening veil; 13the table and its poles, all its utensils, and the bread of the Presence; 14the lampstand for the light, its utensils and lamps, and the oil for the light; 15the altar of incense and its poles, the anointing oil and fragrant incense, and the entrance screen for the entrance of the dwelling; 16the altar of burnt offering with its bronze grate, its poles, and all its utensils; the basin and its stand; 17the hangings of the court, its pillars and bases, and the screen for the gate of the court; 18the pegs of the dwelling and the pegs of the court and their cords; 19the woven garments for ministering in the Holy Place, the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons for priestly service.”

The People Bring Their Offerings

20Then all the congregation of the children of Israel went out from before Moses. 21Everyone whose heart lifted him and everyone whose spirit moved him came and brought the LORD’s offering for the work of the tent of meeting, for all its service, and for the holy garments. 22They came, men along with women, everyone willing of heart, bringing brooches, earrings, rings, and ornaments, all kinds of gold objects; everyone who waved a wave offering of gold to the LORD. 23Everyone with whom was found blue, purple, or scarlet yarn, fine linen, goats’ hair, ram skins dyed red, or fine leather brought them. 24Everyone who lifted up a contribution of silver or bronze brought the LORD’s offering, and everyone with whom was found acacia wood for any work of the service brought it. 25Every wise-hearted woman spun with her hands and brought what she had spun: the blue, purple, and scarlet yarn and the fine linen. 26All the women whose hearts lifted them in wisdom spun the goats’ hair. 27The leaders brought the onyx stones and the stones for setting in the ephod and breastpiece, 28and the spices and oil for the light, for the anointing oil, and for the fragrant incense. 29Every man and woman among the children of Israel whose heart moved them to bring something for all the work that the LORD had commanded by the hand of Moses brought it as a freewill offering to the LORD.

Bezalel and Oholiab

30Moses said to the children of Israel, “See, the LORD has called by name Bezalel son of Uri, son of Hur, from the tribe of Judah. 31He has filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and every kind of craftsmanship, 32to devise skilled designs, to work in gold, silver, and bronze, 33in cutting stones for setting, in carving wood, and in doing every kind of skilled work. 34He has also put in his heart the ability to teach, both he and Oholiab son of Ahisamach, from the tribe of Dan. 35He has filled them with wisdom of heart to do every kind of work: engraving, skilled design, embroidery in blue, purple, and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and weaving—workers of every kind and designers of skillful work.
