Exodus 25

An Offering for the Sanctuary

The LORD spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the children of Israel, that they take for me an offering. From everyone whose heart moves him, you will take my offering. And this is the offering that you will take from them: gold, silver, and bronze; blue, purple, and scarlet yarn; fine linen and goats’ hair; ram skins dyed red, fine leather, acacia wood; oil for the light; spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense; onyx stones and stones for setting in the ephod and in the breastpiece. Let them make me a sanctuary, so that I may dwell in their midst. According to all that I show you—the pattern of the dwelling and the pattern of all its furnishings—so you will make it.

The Ark

“They will make an ark of acacia wood, two and a half cubits long, a cubit and a half wide, and a cubit and a half high. You will overlay it with pure gold, inside and outside you will overlay it, and you will make a gold molding around it. You will cast four rings of gold for it and put them on its four feet, two rings on one side and two rings on the other side. You will make poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold. You will put the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark, to carry the ark with them. The poles will remain in the rings of the ark; they will not be removed from it. You will put into the ark the testimony that I will give you.

The Cover and the Cherubim

“You will make a cover of pure gold, two and a half cubits long and a cubit and a half wide. You will make two cherubim of gold. Make them of hammered work at the two ends of the cover. Make one cherub at one end and one cherub at the other end. Of one piece with the cover you will make the cherubim at its two ends. The cherubim will spread out their wings upward, overshadowing the cover with their wings, and their faces will be toward one another; toward the cover will the faces of the cherubim be. You will put the cover on top of the ark, and in the ark you will put the testimony that I will give you. There I will meet with you, and from above the cover, from between the two cherubim that are upon the ark of the testimony, I will speak with you concerning all that I command you for the children of Israel.

The Table

“You will make a table of acacia wood, two cubits long, one cubit wide, and a cubit and a half high. You will overlay it with pure gold and make a gold molding around it. You will make a rim around it, a handbreadth wide, and make a gold molding around the rim. You will make four rings of gold for it and put the rings on the four corners that are at its four legs. The rings will be close to the rim, as holders for the poles to carry the table. You will make the poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold, and the table will be carried with them. You will make its plates, dishes, pitchers, and bowls with which drink offerings are poured. You will make them of pure gold. You will set the bread of the Presence on the table before me continually.

The Lampstand

“You will make a lampstand of pure gold. The lampstand will be made of hammered work—its base and shaft, its cups, buds, and blossoms will be of one piece with it. Six branches will come out from its sides, three branches of the lampstand from one side and three branches of the lampstand from the other side. Three cups shaped like almond blossoms, with bud and blossom, will be on one branch, and three cups shaped like almond blossoms, with bud and blossom, on the next branch; so for the six branches coming out from the lampstand. On the lampstand itself will be four cups shaped like almond blossoms, with its buds and blossoms. A bud will be under the first pair of branches coming from it, a bud under the second pair of branches coming from it, and a bud under the third pair of branches coming from it, for the six branches coming out from the lampstand. Their buds and branches will be of one piece with it, all of it one hammered work of pure gold. You will make its seven lamps, and its lamps will be set up so that they give light in front of it. Its tongs and firepans will be of pure gold. It will be made from a talent of pure gold, with all these utensils. See that you make them according to their pattern that was shown to you on the mountain.
