Ephesians 3
The Mystery Made Known among the Gentiles
For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles— surely you have heard about the stewardship of God’s grace given to me for you, how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I wrote briefly before. By reading this, you can understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, which was not made known to other generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit: the Gentiles are co-heirs, members of the same body, and co-participants in the promise in Christ Jesus through the good news. I became a servant of this good news according to the gift of God’s grace given to me through the working of his power. To me, the least of all the holy ones, this grace was given: to announce to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to bring to light for everyone the administration of the mystery hidden for ages in God, who created all things, so that now, through the church, the many-sided wisdom of God might be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, according to the eternal purpose he carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord. In him we have boldness and confident access through trust in him. Therefore I ask you not to lose heart because of my sufferings for you, which are your glory.
A Prayer to Know Christ’s Love
For this reason I bend my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, asking that, according to the riches of his glory, he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through trust, as you are rooted and grounded in love. May you have strength to comprehend, together with all the holy ones, what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know Christ’s love that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled to all the fullness of God. Now to the one who is able to do far beyond everything we ask or imagine, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
