Deuteronomy 30

When You Return to the LORD

“And it will be, when all these things come upon you, the blessing and the curse that I have set before you, and you bring them back to your heart among all the nations where the LORD your God has driven you, and you return to the LORD your God and listen to his voice according to all that I command you today, you and your children, with all your heart and with all your life, then the LORD your God will restore your fortunes and have compassion on you. He will return and gather you from all the peoples where the LORD your God scattered you. Even if your outcasts are at the end of the heavens, from there the LORD your God will gather you, and from there he will take you. The LORD your God will bring you into the land that your ancestors possessed, and you shall possess it. He will do you good and multiply you more than your ancestors.

The LORD Will Circumcise Your Heart

“The LORD your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your offspring, so that you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your life, in order that you may live. The LORD your God will put all these curses upon your enemies and upon those who hate you, who persecuted you. And you will return and listen to the voice of the LORD and do all his commandments that I command you today. The LORD your God will make you abound in all the work of your hand, in the fruit of your womb, the fruit of your livestock, and the fruit of your ground, for good. For the LORD will again rejoice over you for good, as he rejoiced over your ancestors, when you listen to the voice of the LORD your God, keeping his commandments and statutes written in this book of instruction, when you return to the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your life.

The Commandment Is Not Too Wonderful for You

“For this commandment that I command you today is not too wonderful for you, and it is not far away. It is not in the heavens, that you should say, ‘Who will go up to the heavens for us and take it for us and make us hear it, so that we may do it?’ Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will cross beyond the sea for us and take it for us and make us hear it, so that we may do it?’ Rather, the word is very near to you, in your mouth and in your heart, so that you may do it.

I Have Set before You Life and Death

“See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, in that I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments, statutes, and judgments, so that you may live and multiply, and the LORD your God may bless you in the land that you are entering to possess. But if your heart turns away and you do not listen, and you are drawn away and bow down to other gods and serve them, I declare to you today that you shall surely perish. You shall not prolong your days upon the ground that you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess. I call the heavens and the earth to witness against you today: I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. So choose life, so that you and your offspring may live, loving the LORD your God, listening to his voice, and clinging to him, for he is your life and the length of your days, so that you may dwell upon the ground that the LORD swore to your ancestors, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.
