Difficult Times
Know this: difficult times will come in the last days. For people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, slanderous, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, without natural affection, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, not loving what is good, traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to an appearance of godliness but denying its power. Turn away from such people. For among them are those who slip into households and captivate vulnerable women burdened with sins and driven by various desires, always learning yet never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these people also oppose the truth—people corrupted in mind and rejected concerning the faith. But they will not advance much further, because their foolishness will become clear to everyone, just as happened with those men.
Continue in What You Learned
But you have followed my teaching, way of life, purpose, trust, patience, love, endurance, persecutions, and sufferings—what happened to me at Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra, what persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from them all. Indeed, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. But evil people and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. But you, continue in the things you learned and became convinced of, knowing from whom you learned them, and how from infancy you have known the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through trust in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching, for correction, for setting things right, and for training in righteousness, so that the person of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
