The Temple Furnishings Are Brought In

1Thus all the work that Solomon did for the house of the LORD was finished. Solomon brought in the holy things of David his father—the silver, the gold, and all the vessels—and put them in the treasuries of the house of God.

The Ark Is Brought to the Temple

2Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the leaders of the ancestral houses of the children of Israel, to Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD from the city of David, which is Zion. 3All the men of Israel assembled to the king at the festival, which was in the seventh month. 4All the elders of Israel came, and the Levites carried the ark. 5They brought up the ark, the tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the tent. The Levitical priests brought them up. 6King Solomon and all the congregation of Israel assembled before him were sacrificing sheep and cattle that could not be counted or numbered for multitude. 7The priests brought the ark of the covenant of the LORD to its place, to the inner sanctuary of the house, to the Most Holy Place, beneath the wings of the cherubim. 8For the cherubim spread their wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubim covered the ark and its poles from above. 9The poles were so long that the ends of the poles were seen from the Holy Place before the inner sanctuary, but they were not seen outside. They are there to this day. 10There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets that Moses put there at Horeb, where the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel when they came out from Egypt.

The Glory of the LORD Fills the Temple

11And it happened when the priests came out from the Holy Place—for all the priests who were present had consecrated themselves without regard to their divisions— 12and all the Levites who were singers, Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun, and their sons and brothers, clothed in fine linen, with cymbals, harps, and lyres, stood east of the altar, and with them one hundred twenty priests blowing trumpets— 13and it happened when the trumpeters and singers were as one, making one voice to praise and give thanks to the LORD, and when they raised their voice with trumpets, cymbals, and instruments of song, and praised the LORD:

“For he is good,
for his steadfast love is forever,”

then the house, the house of the LORD, was filled with a cloud. 14The priests were not able to stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the LORD filled the house of God.
