2 Chronicles 27

Jotham Reigns in Judah

Jotham was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jerushah daughter of Zadok. He did what was right in the eyes of the LORD according to all that Uzziah his father had done, except that he did not enter the temple of the LORD. Yet the people still acted corruptly.

Jotham Builds and Fights

He built the Upper Gate of the house of the LORD and built extensively on the wall of Ophel. He built cities in the hill country of Judah and built fortresses and towers in the forests. He fought with the king of the children of Ammon and prevailed against them. The children of Ammon gave him that year one hundred talents of silver, ten thousand cors of wheat, and ten thousand of barley. The children of Ammon paid him the same amount in the second and third years.

Jotham Becomes Strong

So Jotham became strong because he established his ways before the LORD his God. Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, all his wars and his ways, look, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah. He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. Jotham lay down with his ancestors, and they buried him in the city of David. Ahaz his son became king in his place.
