1 Chronicles 4
The sons of Judah: Perez, Hezron, Carmi, Hur, and Shobal. Reaiah the son of Shobal fathered Jahath, and Jahath fathered Ahumai and Lahad. These are the families of the Zorathites. These were the sons of Etam: Jezreel, Ishma, and Idbash. And the name of their sister was Hazzelelponi. Penuel was the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah. These are the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah, the father of Bethlehem.
Ashhur, the father of Tekoa, had two wives: Helah and Naarah. Naarah bore him Ahuzzam, Hepher, Temeni, and Haahashtari. These were the sons of Naarah. The sons of Helah: Zereth, Zohar, and Ethnan. Koz fathered Anub and Zobebah, and the families of Aharhel the son of Harum.
Jabez was more honored than his brothers. His mother named him Jabez, saying, "Because I bore him in pain." Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, "If you would bless me and enlarge my territory, may your hand be with me, and keep me from harm, so that it might not bring me pain!" God granted what he requested.
Chelub the brother of Shuhah fathered Mehir, who was the father of Eshton. Eshton fathered Beth-rapha, Paseah, and Tehinnah, the father of Ir-nahash. These are the men of Recah.
The sons of Kenaz: Othniel and Seraiah. The sons of Othniel: Hathath. Meonothai fathered Ophrah, and Seraiah fathered Joab, the father of the Valley of Craftsmen, for they were craftsmen. The sons of Caleb son of Jephunneh: Iru, Elah, and Naam. The sons of Elah: Kenaz. The sons of Jehallelel: Ziph, Ziphah, Tiria, and Asarel.

(These are ancient things.) These were the potters living in Netaim and Gederah; they stayed there with the king in his service.
The sons of Simeon: Nemuel, Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, and Shaul; His son Shallum, his son Mibsam, his son Mishma. The sons of Mishma: Hamuel his son, Zaccur his son, Shimei his son. Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters, but his brothers did not have many sons. Therefore, their family did not multiply like that of Judah.

Their villages were Etam, Ayin, Rimmon, Tochen, and Ashan—five towns— along with all their villages around these towns as far as Baal. These were their settlements, and they kept their genealogy.
Meshobab, Jamlech, Joshah son of Amaziah; Joel, Jehu son of Joshibiah, son of Seraiah, son of Asiel; Elioenai, Jaakobah, Jeshohaiah, Asaiah, Adiel, Jesimiel, Benaiah; Ziza son of Shiphi, son of Allon, son of Jedaiah, son of Shimri, son of Shemaiah.
These mentioned by name were leaders in their clans, and their families increased greatly.
They went to the entrance of Gedor, to the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks. They found rich, good pasture, and the land was broad, quiet, and peaceful, for the former inhabitants were Hamites. These named above, during the time of King Hezekiah of Judah, came and attacked their tents and the Meunites that were found there. They devoted them to destruction to this day and lived in their place, because there was pasture for their flocks.
Some of them, five hundred men from the sons of Simeon, went to Mount Seir with Pelatiah, Neariah, Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi, at their head. They defeated the remaining Amalekites who had escaped, and they have lived there to this day.
