1 Chronicles 18
After this, David struck the Philistines and subdued them. He took Gath and its surrounding towns from the hand of the Philistines.
He struck Moab, and the Moabites became David’s servants, bringing tribute.
David struck Hadadezer king of Zobah toward Hamath, as he went to establish his power at the Euphrates River.
David captured from him one thousand chariots, seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand foot soldiers. David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but left from them one hundred chariot horses.
When the Arameans of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck twenty-two thousand men of the Arameans.
Then David placed garrisons among the Arameans of Damascus, and the Arameans became David’s servants, bringing tribute. The LORD gave David victory wherever he went.
David took the gold shields that had belonged to Hadadezer’s servants and brought them to Jerusalem.
From Tibhath and Cun, cities of Hadadezer, David took a very great quantity of bronze. With it Solomon made the bronze Sea, the pillars, and the bronze vessels.
When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had struck all the army of Hadadezer king of Zobah,
he sent his son Hadoram to King David, to ask after his welfare and to bless him because he had fought against Hadadezer and struck him; for Hadadezer had been at war with Toi. Hadoram brought articles of gold, silver, and bronze.
King David also dedicated these to the LORD, along with the silver and gold that he had carried off from all the nations: from Edom, Moab, the Ammonites, the Philistines, and Amalek.
Abishai son of Zeruiah struck Edom in the Valley of Salt—eighteen thousand.
He placed garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became David’s servants. The LORD gave David victory wherever he went.
So David reigned over all Israel, administering justice and righteousness for all his people.
Joab son of Zeruiah was over the army; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was recorder;
Zadok son of Ahitub and Abimelech son of Abiathar were priests; Shavsha was secretary;
and Benaiah son of Jehoiada was over the Kerethites and the Pelethites. David’s sons were foremost at the king’s side.
