1 Chronicles 14
Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, along with cedar timber, masons, and woodworkers, to build him a house. David knew that the LORD had established him as king over Israel, for his kingdom had been exalted greatly for the sake of his people Israel.
David took more wives in Jerusalem, and David fathered more sons and daughters. These are the names of those born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon; Ibhar, Elishua, and Elpelet; Nogah, Nepheg, and Japhia; Elishama, Beeliada, and Eliphelet.
When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David. David heard of it and went out before them.
Now the Philistines had come and spread out in the Valley of Rephaim.
David inquired of God, saying, “Should I go up against the Philistines? Will you give them into my hand?”
The LORD said to him, “Go up, and I will give them into your hand.”
So they went up to Baal-perazim, and David struck them down there. David said, “God has burst through my enemies by my hand, like a bursting flood.” Therefore they called the name of that place Baal-perazim.
They left their gods there, and David gave the command, and they were burned with fire.
Again the Philistines spread out in the valley. David again inquired of God, and God said to him, “You must not go up after them. Circle around from behind them, and come against them opposite the baca trees. When you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the baca trees, then go out to battle, for God has gone out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.” David did as God commanded him, and they struck down the camp of the Philistines from Gibeon as far as Gezer. David’s name went out through all the lands, and the LORD put fear of him on all the nations.
